Minghong Yang is a researcher of National Engineering Laboratory of Fiber Optic Sensing Technology of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, PhD supervisor, Distinguished Professor of Hubei Province Chutian Scholars, recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a member of the Optical Fiber Sensing Technical Committee of the Chinese Optical Engineering Society, a member of the Optical Fiber Sensing Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Optics and Photonics, and the Vice Chairman of the Hubei Optical Society. He is a Senior Visiting Scholar at Virginia Tech, a Visiting Professor at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, Germany, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Munich, Germany.
He has been engaged in the research of information optoelectronic devices and technology for a long time. He has presided over more than 20 research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key International Cooperation Project of the National Science Foundation, the National Outstanding Youth Fund Project, the Key Research and Development Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, and the Research Collaboration of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics. He has published more than 200 academic papers, and has given more than 30 invited presentations in important international conferences. He is a member of the program committee of the 23rd, 24th and 25th International Conference on Fiber Optic Sensing; chairman of the 4th SPIE Asia-Pacific International Conference on Optical Sensing and chairman of the 2019 China Fiber Optic Sensing Academic Conference and Industrialization Forum. Associate Editor of IEEE Sensors Journal, Editorial Board of Springer Photonic Sensors, Editorial Board of Journal of Sensor Technology, IEEE Sensors Council Distinguished Lecturer, IEEE Sensors Council, International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is the editor-in-chief of the book "Key Devices and Technologies for Fiber Optic Sensor Networks", and has been awarded the first prize of Hubei Provincial Technical Invention and the second prize of National Technical Invention.
