2023 WSS Held Smart Logistics and Intelligent Sensing--Application Scenario Session

The WSS Intelligent Logistics Session was successfully held on the afternoon of November 5. Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Provincial People’s Government of Henan, WSS 2023 took the theme of “Sense the World, Create the Future”, emphasizing the crucial role of the sensor industry in modern technology. The event lasted three days, including keynote presentations, ten sessions, production & sales matchmaking meetings, China Europe Sensor Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference, Sensor Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and Sensing Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition. The Smart logistics and perception application scenario session emphasized on the application of sensors in the logistics industry, especially in the key role of logistics intelligence. The session was organized by the China Instrument and Control Society in collaboration with the Sino-German Institute of Intelligent Technology, attracting the presence of many well-known experts, scholars, and industry leaders at home and abroad. Discussions and exchanges were held on the intelligent development and cutting-edge dynamics of the logistics industry.

The Session invited international first-class experts such as Fellow Axel·Kuhn of Germany Academy of Science and Engineering, Professor Fang Dianjun, the Doctoral Supervisor of Tongji University, and Visiting Scholar Florian·Rothmeyer of Tongji University. They discussed and gave keynote speeches on the trend of logistics and supply chain, the era of logistics metaverse based on sensor technology and the trends of intelligent sensor based handling robots, presenting attendees with cutting-edge technologies and trends in the logistics industry.

Fellow Axel·Kuhn of Germany Academy of Science and Engineering, and German President of the Qingdao Sino-German Institute of Intelligent Technology, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Trends of Logistics and Supply Chain” at the session. Professor Kuhn shared his insights on the future development and trends of logistics and supply chain in his speech, and provided valuable constructive suggestions for innovation, transformation, and upgrading in the logistics industry.

Professor Fang Dianjun, the Doctoral Supervisor of Tongji University and the Chinese President of Qingdao Sino-German Institute of Intelligent Technology, delivered a keynote speech entitled The Era of Logistics Metaverse Based on Intelligent Sensor Technology. Professor Fang Dianjun pointed out in his speech that introducing sensor technology in various intermediate links of logistics to achieve digitalization of the entire logistics process is the first step in establishing a logistics metaverse. The development of the logistics metaverse is not about shifting from reality to virtuality, but rather achieving a high degree of integration between the physical and information dimensions of logistics through intelligent sensors and actuators. The logistics metaverse will accelerate the deep integration of the real economy and the digital economy, and promote the emergence and development of new business models.

During the Sino-German Institute of Intelligent Technology exhibition area, nearly 300 enterprises and institutions made presence, showcasing their latest product achievements and cutting-edge scientific research technologies, attracting over 10,000 industry professionals to attend the exhibition, as well as nearly 300 industry professionals actively participating in the session. The exhibition provided opportunities for enterprises to connect production and sales, attracting innovation platforms, technology incubation institutions, and manufacturing projects, and provided strong support for the transformation of intelligent technology achievements and brand promotion and expansion of participating enterprises and institutions.

Since first held in 2018, the WSS has been successfully held for four sessions, attracting widespread attention and high recognition from the sensor industry both domestically and internationally. It has made significant contributions to the sustainable development of the sensor industry and the construction of the industrial ecosystem. The Smart Logistics and Intelligent sensing session focused on the intelligence of the logistics industry, with a focus on the key application of sensor technology in the development of logistics intelligence, injecting new impetus into the intelligent and digital transformation of the logistics industry, and promoting the vigorous development of the sensor and smart logistics fields in both directions.
